The following story just touched our hearts here at the Land of PureGold. We get very
few orders for these special cookies and so were somewhat concerned when
repeated orders for several bags came from one individual. Since treats
are special additions to the diet, therefore able to last a good bit of
time, we wanted to be sure that they were being used correctly. So we
wrote to this person and got this most marvelous response in
return.
Actually, the cookies are only for my 85lb. mixed breed dog who
just turned 18-years-old. This dog is amazing. He acts like he is 6
or 7-years-old, chasing his tail as well as rabbits. I had used up
almost one bag when I decided to order more. I figured they were

I
picked Brandy up off the streets almost 18 years ago when I was a
patrolman. Poor thing was stuck in a thick briar patch. I ripped my
uniform getting him out. I now head the crime scene unit and my old
partner, who was with me at the time, is amazed that Brandy is still
going. The vet said he was 4-months-old at the time. He had the
worst case of mange the vet had ever seen. He only had hair on his
head and the top of his back. I took him for mange treatments for 10
weeks and gave him good food and IN vitamins. All his hair grew back
in a firey burnt orange. Brandy had a bout with pancreatitis a
couple of months ago. I think it was from eating dirt. I have told
my parents and brother to watch him carefully when he is outside.
Brandy had kidney issues about 2½ years ago. Most of his functions
were elevated. The vet said it was just from his age and there was
nothing really to be done. Well, I cut his protein, added some
different vitamins to his food, and went totally organic. All of his
kidney functions are now in the normal range except I think the BUN
and it's only 1 or 2 points away from normal. I also did not
vaccinate him after he was about six-years-old. I have titers done
on everything including rabies. He has had enough serum levels of
protection for the past twelve years. I would have been jamming him
with unnecessary boosters. I think it would have compromised his
immune system. I feel that is also a reason he is so robust at 18.
Anyway, I'm sorry to bend your ear. I always do this when talking
about Brandy. I wish everyone took care of their pets the way I do.

Organic Saigon Cinnamon
is one of the world's most important spices. Saigon cinnamon, a rare and powerful variety, boasts significantly higher oil contents.
The oil content in our recipe is at 5 percent. The higher
the oil content, the more aroma and flavor. Cinnamon actually comes from the
bark of trees in the evergreen family. There are several varieties of trees
from which we derive cinnamon which are referred to as the "cinnamomum"
family. Most of the cinnamon comes from trees of the "cinnamomum cassia"
family. This is why you may hear the spice referred to as "cassia". In the
industry, this term is used to distinguish between the cassia type of
cinnamon and the Ceylon type of cinnamon. Cinnamon is graded on its content
of essential oil. Therefore, cassia types of cinnamon, which average higher
oil content than the Ceylon types, are rated superior by the cinnamon loving
population.
The cassia group is native to China, Indo-China, and Indonesia.
Unquestionably, the cinnamon best suited to American bakers comes from the
cassia type of cinnamon. Saigon has a distinctly sweet flavor as compared to
the Indonesian types. The color is darker than the Indonesian as well. Cinnamon has a long history of use in
India and was first used medicinally in Egypt and parts of Europe, as far
back as 500 BC. Traditionally, cinnamon was taken for colds, flu and
digestive problems, like indigestion and diarrhea and it is still used in
