Scaredy Dog! Understanding and Rehabilitating Your
Reactive Dog (2004)
By Ali Brown. Most owners feel lost when their dog starts to growl at
other dogs, lunge at people, and bark at everything. These behaviors are
often mislabeled as "aggression." But aggression is fear-based and
should be treated as such. The appropriate term for this constellation
of behaviors is "reactivity." This book helps the dedicated dog owner to
understand what a reactive dog is doing, why he's doing it, and how to
help him to change it for the better. The process is not an easy one,
but once the changes begin to take shape, owners become so encouraged
that the rest of the process suddenly becomes easy! All training methods
used here are based on fun, and on the development of a 'working
relationship' with your dog. Learn how to make the most of your reactive
dog, and begin your trek to a new and wonderful life with your pal!

I'll be Home Soon! (2000)
Written by Patricia McConnell. How to prevent and treat Separation
Anxiety. If you worry about leaving your dog home alone, both because
you love your dog and your house, this book is for you. Most dogs can be
left home alone during the day and lead happy, fulfilled doggy lives
without destroying your house. Of course, some of them get into trouble
at home when you're gone because there's so much fun stuff to do without
you to stop them. But a small number of dogs suffer from a serious
problem called Separation Anxiety, in which they panic at your departure
and stay panicked until you return. This book is designed to help those
whose dog really suffers from Separation Anxiety, to help you prevent it
from developing, and to help you raise a dog with good "house manners."
Cautious Canine
Written by Patricia McConnell. How to help dogs conquer their fears with
desensitization and counter conditioning. Step by step instructions to
help you dog get over his fear of unfamiliar people. ***If you want to
use the program for something besides a dog who's afraid of strangers,
just substitute the relevant species and problem and go from there. It
can be used to get over fear of the vet, a ceiling fan, whatever - as
long as the behavior problem is motivated by fear. Even people can use
the program!

Feisty Fido: Help for the Leash Aggressive Dog
(2003)
This booklet was written by Patricia McConnell & Karen London. If you
have a dog who is barking and lunging at other dogs while on leash, you
are not alone. It's a very common behavior problem, even if the same dog
gets along well with others OFF leash. It is also a problem with a high
rate of successful treatment. What you can get from this booklet is the
ability to leash-walk your dog around others, whether it's down the
sidewalk or at the vet clinic, knowing that your dog will walk politely
by another dog, rather than causing a scene. Methods are totally
positive reinforcement.
Click to Calm: Healing the Aggressive Dog
(2004)
When Emma Parsons, canine trainer and behavior consultant, discovered
that Ben, her own prized golden retriever, was aggressive toward other
dogs and that traditional remedies took his reactivity to nightmarish
levels, she turned to clicker training. In the process, Emma developed
innovative and highly effective strategies to calm, alter, and re-shape
Ben's aggressive displays. Her work has since helped many clients
successfully reduce and even erase their dogs' reactivity to both dogs
and humans. More than 40 exercises in an easy-to-follow training recipe
format, teaching how to: *Desensitize your dog to approaching stranger
dogs *Allow you to grab your dog's collar without him snapping *Have
your dog perform canine calming signals, instead of aggressive displays,
on cue *Have your dog turn and give you eye contact whenever another dog
approaches, or you tighten on the leash *Use your own body language when
under stress as a cue for your dog to remain calm *And many more
creative and effective uses of managing behavior through clicker
training
