 The Vûrv Design line comes from Glenn Ross of Coquitlam, British Columbia. With a
BA in archaeology and Masters degree in architecture from the University of
British Columbia in 2001, he brings
much talent and purpose to his work. Glenn’s intention is to
create warm, comfortable spaces within the context of the modern home. He
strives toward the minimal, while maintaining a connection with the handmade.
About the same time he started his company, Oliver, a German Shepherd and Blue
Heeler mix, came into Ross's life. Glenn
felt his handsome guy deserved the best, not wanting to sacrifice style when
adding dog accoutrements to his home.
The transition away from plastic laminate is here. All products
in the line feature wood construction, handmade from start to
finish. Glenn's products
also utilize formaldehyde free adhesives and non-lacquer finishes. He meticulously
separates his wood waste from recyclable waste and trash, and reuses as much
material as possible. Next to creating desirable products, the environment is
his primary concern. Glenn's work has been noticed by many in the contemporary
design and architectural communities. In fact, his Series Three Deluxe
Feeder was chosen as Cat Fancy Magazine's 2009 Editor's Choice
Award winner.

More of a recliner than a pet bed, the Pod Bed is like an Eames chair for your
best friend. The Pod Bed is made of bent ply with a choice of five fabulous
veneers.
Solid wood legs at the base
of this unit provide a sturdy foundation, while a removable and machine washable
pad on the interior of this lounger will have your tired dog or kitty dreaming
in luxury.
This unique piece of furniture was was inspired by a local
design contest. The "Doghouse Vancouver" portion of the 2006
Design Vancouver Interior Design & Urban Living Expo called upon
designers to bring their talents to the world of canine design.
The expo organizers asked for reinterpretations on the classic
doghouse, and that is surely what this piece does.
 According to
Glenn Ross, the Dog Pod provides small dogs and cats with a sense of shelter. When
he was satisfied with the bed's shape, a washable and removable
synthetic fur liner was added to make the pod cozy.
The images on the left show the pillow with its cover.
The Pod is suitable for small dogs and cats.
The overall
dimensions are: 17 inches deep x 20 inches wide x 19
inches high.
Glenn attests to the bed's enticing
design, as his young daughter often crawled into the prototype trying to find a
snug spot to rest.
